What FileMyDivorce covers

One platform, every step of separation

Divorce rarely arrives alone. It brings property, money, children, and sometimes safety concerns with it — and the platform covers all of that, not just the court filing.

How FileMyDivorce works

01

Tell us your situation

A short, confidential intake — contested or mutual consent, city, and whether children or cross-border elements are involved.

02

Get matched

We surface two to three independently enrolled advocates whose practice fits your matter. You choose who to speak with.

03

Consult, by chat or video

Speak with your advocate directly through the platform, on your schedule, including evenings for NRI clients.

04

File and track

Once engaged, track hearings, documents, and orders in one dashboard — alongside any mediation or support services you've added.

Beyond the decree

Divorce touches more than the courtroom

Property, succession & adoption

Division of jointly held property, RERA and title checks on marital assets, succession planning after divorce, and support for step-parent or single-parent adoption once your matter is resolved.

Questions

Frequently asked

No. FileMyDivorce is a legal-technology platform that helps you find and instruct independently enrolled advocates. Legal services are rendered by those advocates in their individual capacity, not by FileMyDivorce, and we do not take a share of legal fees, in line with the Bar Council of India's Rules restricting the sharing of advocates' fees with non-advocates.

Advertising, solicitation, and comparative ranking of advocates is restricted under Bar Council of India Rule 36, and the Madras High Court has taken the view that ranked lawyer-marketplace listings fall foul of it. FileMyDivorce shows self-authored profiles and lets you speak with more than one advocate before choosing.

A flat, disclosed platform fee for matching and consultation scheduling, shown before you book. Your advocate's professional fee is agreed separately, directly with them.

Yes — our NRI divorce service line covers jurisdiction strategy, cross-border service of process, apostille and consular attestation guidance, and consultations scheduled around time-zone differences. See the NRI Divorce page for detail.

Your intake details are shared only with the advocate(s) you choose to consult, and are handled in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You can request deletion of your account data at any time.
